The summer bouquet
Jutland has many areas with heather, one of them is the area that we use to go to for holiday. We use to take a small bouquet of heather with us back home and put it in an vase without water, to look at until we are going back next year for a new bouquet. I found a photo of a heat in Jutland at Wikipedia.
Update: Wikipedia link about the heat
I was only thinking today, I need to go and visit our heather moors, they are in full bloom.
Nice, I´ll keep an eye at your blog. As far as I remember you had some at your blog last year? I was actually thinking of you when I made this post, because of these photos.
Unusual and beautiful picture. Love the shadows on the vase.
Thank you Isa, I´m glad you like it. Do you have a blog yourself?
I like your composition of masculinity and femininity in the same picture, it makes a strong statement.
I’ve never seen a Heather before, does it have aroma?
A bouquet of heather (in Danish called LYNG)doesn´t have any aroma, but at the heat is different, this place has a wonderful nice aroma comming from the special type of soil that heather grows in,- and ofcourse from the other flowers and trees growing there. We have a delicate type of honey called heather-honey (LYNG HONNING). It´s not only the aroma that is nice on the heather, also the sound from the birds and insects living there are making it a nice experience to be there.
This is a beautiful picture…. and what a wonderful tradition!
Thank you Michaela.
Beautiful photo, Birgitte!
I am thinking about food right now — nearing lunchtime! So I wonder if “Lingonberries” grow on the heath, too!
I had to look that word up, Ligonberries. Blogging is such a good way to learn more. The answer is Yes, there are ligonberries, and many other kind of berries. Maybe I should make a post about the heat, it is an area, that has to be protected against…other kind of plants and trees. My blogfriend in England, http://uphilldowndale.wordpress.com/ are soon going to post some photos of the heat around her home.
I like this photo very much, it’s very soft and elegant.
Thank you 🙂 I´m glad you like it.
I used to take a sifting of sand from the beach and a bit of crumbled sweetgrass. Now I just live where I used to vacation.
I once got a very nice present; a small cigarbox (without the cigars!). On top was written: “A summerday at the beach”. Inside, including the lid, it was covered with sky-blue paper, and filled with fine sand, small stones and shells. This was such sweet present to get, I still like to open it and take a look.
Maybe a way to keep all this sand, that we bring home every year, and don´t know where to place, – us who have to leave paradise after some weeks, of course 🙂
This is flat out a beautiful photo. Well done, my friend. 🙂
i love the warmth in this photograph, also the shadows and the slight touch of color. beautiful!
