Mr. Blackbird

It´s spring and this blackbird has captured our garden. Now he is announcing it from the highest point, trying to impress the female birds and keep the rivals at a distance.

Spring is near :-)

The rose.

the-rose

When my beloved mother died of cancer two years ago, she left me and my 4 siblings in deep sorrow. She was such a considerate person, we loved her deeply.

Her house was the meeting place for our big family, and she was always busy either with working in the big garden or helping the daily visitor(s) with whatever they needed. Grandchildren´s schoolwork, arranging family get together, baking or cooking, listen to our talk about problems or joy.

My parents built the house together, a beautiful house, and we just loved every little bit of it.  After my mother had died, the house became quiet, and we had to empty our childhood home, which was very sad for us sometimes. (Sometimes we forgot to work, and spend hours of cosy talking instead, as we used to in this house.)

One day, just before I was going home, I decided to take a walk in the garden. It was in the end of october, the winter had started, it was cold and the garden looked empty and dark. Flowers and colors had left long time ago.

Suddenly my eyes catch a red spot outside the old greenhouse. Curious I went to see what it was, and great was my surprise, when I found out that the red spot was a rose! Not an ordinary rose, but an incredible beautiful and perfect velvety red rose. I had never ever seen such a rose before, and as is was very unusual to see a flower in late october,  it was both comforting and strange. I took some photos, and the plant home to my own garden.

Mothers rose  Mothers rose

Some months later, I decided to start this blog, to get something else to think of. I posted a photo of  this rose shortly after, and every single day ever since, people have been visiting my blog just to see this rose. It has become like the heart of this blog.

To me, this rose is as beautiful as my mothers soul, and I can only be thankful that it have been showed to me, and that I got the opportunity to pass it on to people all around the world, hoping that it will create beautiful thoughts and actions, just like my mother did.

Kayak roll-with a slowmotion replay!

Thanks to Michaela I found out how to post this video, and it showed up to be  SO easy! Well, if you know where to find the answer. The point is, that a video has to be uploadet somewhere else, before it is at wordpress. I used YouTube, Michaela told about Google, and I saw two other possibilities. When one has made a link to a video, everything is easy. The quality is not too good, that will be my next goal to improve. Thanks again, Michaela.

Asking for an advice

I want to post a short video showing my husband comming up from the depth, by rolling the kayak all the way, but two days of searching for an advice of how to do, is obviously too little to let the answer come out in the open. I learned something though; the video has to be uploaded at YouTube first, unless one has bought the possibility to upload directly in WordPress. Read the text below and save some time, if you should get the same idea as me. I have to use a lifeline now, and ask both a friend and the audience; how do I do?

Spring is on its way, but the nights are still cold. I went out to look for some morning-ice, and found this.

Happy Barbie-day

barbie-50-years

Except for some unauthorized haircuts, made by my younger sisters long time ago, my Barbie has survived decades quite well, and she can celebrate  not only her 50 years birthday, but also that she now looks younger than her owner! (I´m not convinced that lie in a box for years is fair game…)

Being the spectator

kayak rull training

I think I can imagine how my blog friend Mrs. Uhdd was feeling, when she wrote about her husband climbing in the mountains.
This photo is showing my husband enjoying himself, practicing kayak rull. In the beginning, I didn´t know that it is possible to remove the “cover” (which prevent water to come in, and therefor are locking you to the kayak) if the turn around doesn´t work.  And it doesn´t  in the beginning…
